Pack your luggage for Parga!

I am extremely excited that there have only 18 days left for my travel to Parga!!!

Location of Parga
Me and my boyfriend are travelling to Parga at the end of April for a long weekend trip ( exactly 10 days). I hope that the weather will be nice! I always dream of visiting Greece, I am big fan of Greece ! ;)  Pictures of wonderful Greece landscape have fascinated me for years. I am counting down the days!

Picturesque view of sandy beach in Parga

Parga -  is situated in the Epirus region of northwest Greece. It is a breathtaking resort in Greece, situated in the coastal region that combines mountain and sea. It’s no wonder this place is as popular with Greaks as foreign tourists. It is one of the most popular tourist destinations on mainland Greece. It is a magical city distinguished for its wonderful beaches and mountainous background.

Places that I want to see during my long weekend in Parga:

1. Linchos Beach - one of the places I’d love to see is Linchos beach. It is the most beautiful beach  of Parga and it  is located in a glorious bay, which combines the green nature with blue sky and crystal clear water.  In addition, this sandy and pebbly beach  is situated  only 4 kilometres from the town of Parga.

2. Corfu - number two on my list of places! Corfu is considered as one of the most picturesque islands of Greece, it has wide, superb sandy beaches with a lot of tourists and some tiny, isolated bays.  Moreover, it is one of the most frequented  islands. Kerkira is the capital city of the island.

Corfu
 3. Paxos&Antipaxos - I want to visit the island of Paxos and Antipaxos., which are located quite close to Corfu. Paxos and Antipaxos  are one of the best places for swimming and snorkelling.

The island of  Paxos

4. The Vikos – Aoös National Park - it is a national park with numerous canyons, lakes, rivers, forests.  Aoös and Vikos are the names of two major gorges, which are magnificent!

The Vikos National Park
5. Meteora's monastery - it is a unique place in Greece with monasteries on the top of the rock towers.  It is very popular place for tourists and  the rock climbers  so it can get busy in the summer.  These giant rocks with the buildings on the top of these are miraculous.

6. The Acheron River - it is a famous landmark of the ancient world. The Acheron was one of the rivers of the Underworld in mythology. The river is located about 13 km from Parga.

Men in kilt and with bagpipe

I have already came back from Edinburgh - the capital of Scotland and I really recommend this admirable city.
Scotland’s national instrument is the bagpipe. I met there a lot of mens in kilts with bagpipe.

MUST TO SEE IN EDINBURGH:

Edinburgh Castle
Edinburgh Castle has dominated the skyline of the city for centuries. It is one of the most beautiful places in Scotland. And is located on Castle Rock. I enjoyed views across the capital of Scotland from the castle’s walls, it was amazing experience!

Calton Hill – it is one of the main Edinburgh hill and is located near city centre. The hill also houses monuments such as: the Dugald Stewart Monument, the National Monument, City Observatory.  Calton Hill is  included in the city's UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is beautiful, quiet place with grassy slopes and amazing panoramic views of the city. Moreover, it is  easily accessed – it takes about 5 minutes to get to the top from Regent Road.

Salisbury Crags

Breathtaking view over Edinburh from Arthur's Seat

Arthur's Seat, Holyrood Park and Salisbury Crags - Arthur's Seat is an extinct volcano which looks like a mountain and the main peak of the group of hills. Arthur's Seat rises out of Hollyrood Park.  It is an one-hour trek to get there from the Scottish Parliament building.  The view from the top was spectacular, it was very windy but the view made it worth it! Furthermore, it is excellent location to watch the sun rise.

Salisbury Crags – ruddy-coloured cliffs located in Hollyrood Park.

National Gallery of Scotland

National Gallery of Scotlandit holds the national collection of modern art. The collection includes works by for instance: Picasso, Braque, Matisse, Andy Warhol. Entry is free!

Scott Monument - is 61 m high, Victorian Gothic monument and it is one of the city’s most striking attractions, located along Princess Street.

Hollyroodhouse Palace and Abbey - It is the official residence of the British Queen,  located at the end of the Royal Mile. Unfortunately, I saw it only from outside, stuck my camera through the gate to took a picture.

Shop with souvenirs
Princess Street -  It is main Edinburgh shopping street in city centre, is stretching around 1,6 km. A lot of high street brands shops are located along Princess Street.

Is Cramond Island an island ?

Cramond Island – one of the islands in eastern Scotland, near Edinburgh, is connected to the share by a one mile long (about 1,6km) walkway which is covered at high tide. It is easily accessible on foot from the mainland at low tide, so Cramond Island is only a true island for a few hours at a time. I had a chance to see it  3 days ago! The island is one of 43 tidal islands that people can walk to from the mainland in UK.

It is really popular place, a lot of people, especially families visit it. I also met great number of people who went for a walk with dogs. On a sunny day it's a lovely walk along the prom or the beach.  It is perfect place to enjoy sun, send and sea. We can also admire mountains in the distance. People  can cross  two hours before and after low tide, but everyone should check tide times before go  and allow enough time to get back.

It was extremely delightful experience for me. I have never seen  before this natural phenomenon.

I ♥ NY

New York City is one of my dream destination. All my life, I have imagined New York City as the perfect place to visit. I have travelled quite a bit in my life but never to New York. I want to visit this city that never sleep. This city is unique, it is a melting pot of art word, business and economic power, design and also fashion. Another thing that attracts me to New York is the lifestyle. I fell in love with the busy, bright atmosphere of the city. It’s inspiring me and its beauty made me lightheaded. Unfortunately, I can only admire “Big Apple” watching movies, images and guidebooks.

NYC skyline

My ‘must-see in NY’ list:

·         The Empire State Building – New York has the most impressing skyline in the world. There are many tall buildings in New York, but only one Heart of NYC: The Empire State Building. It is one of New York City's most breathtaking building, it’s 381 m high.  It stood as the world's tallest building for nearly 40 years. High-speed elevators shoot visitors up to the 86th-floor observatory – it has been the setting of dozens of movie and television scenes. It’s highest open-air observatory. This building provides the most spectacular views of the city and beyond. On a clear day you can see beyond the skyscrapers up to 80 miles away.

The Empire State Building

·         Central Park – is the most famous and well-known park, located in the central part of New York, the 315 ha park is an urban oasis of trees, gardens, statues and sculptures. What’s more, it is centre of the city’s public park system. Many people enjoy in this place endless range of outdoor activities.

The Central Park

·         Statue of Liberty - a universal symbol of freedom and democracy, it is New York City's most recognizable landmark. The statue was a gift to the United States from the people of France and was designed by Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi.

The Statue of Liberty

·         Time Square – I really want to stand in the middle of Times Square and look up at the billboards and lights, Wall Street, Broadway and Fifth Avenue. Approximately 330 000 people pass through Times Square daily!

Crowded Times Square

·         Brooklyn Bridge - One of the most recognizable structures in NY. I want to stroll across the Brooklyn Bridge on the pedestrian pathway that has been there since it opened in 1883. It’s John Roebling's engineering masterpiece.

New York is for me the city where dreams come true.

The best of Berlin

I have been in Berlin several times because it is located about 240 km from Poznań. It is excellent city - the capital of Germany with over 3.5 million population. It is one of the best-value city in Europe and the largest city in Germany. Berlin is known for the Berlin wall, unique decorated buildings, museums, cathedrals and also graffiti There is a lot of graffiti and street art all over the city.

I was there in December and admired transformation of Potsdamer Platz into a huge winter wonderland –Christmas  Market.  There was various of attractions, such as: an outdoor skating ring (for free), curling, some small stalls with tasty winter food, mulled wine and wide range of leather, crafts and other gifts. I bought there Berlin’s most popular snack, which is called: currywurst. It is a simple dish of pork sausages and ketchup.
Mulled wine and ginger heart

However, there was more Winter Markets in Berlin.  Behind Alexanderplatz was located 50 m high ferries Wheel, which offers a view of the Brandenburg Gate, Potsdamer Platz and even as far away. I think that  anyone who has ever been to Berlin has seen Fernsehturm – the Berlin television tower, which is rising up out of Alexanderplatz and mark the centre of a city. I enjoyed a unique panorama of the city.

After this winter experience I visited historical sites. I walked along the Berlin Wall, which separated East and West Germany and then strolled down Unter den Linden to Branderburg Gate. Before the war,  Unter den Linden  was one of Europe's grand boulevards, however  nowadays is the grandest and best-known street in the capital of Germany. I walked under the triumphal arc of the Branderburg Gate. This place was really crowded.

Then, I visited Reichstag, because it is nearby. The Reichstag is the most famous landmark in Berlin, It was burned, bombed and then rebuilt. Nowadays it is home to Germany’s parliament.

At the evening I did some shopping  along Kurfurstendamm and Friedrichstrasse - luxury shopping streets. I also visited the KaDeWe,  it is the largest department store in Continental Europe – but for me it was too expensive.
